International Sea Freight

Sea freight services are an important mode of freight transport, accounting for up to 80% of the total volume of all modes of freight worldwide. Vietnam with more than 3260km of coastline, 45 large seaport clusters and is located on the world's most vibrant freight route, is an important bridge in the world's maritime trade. Therefore, Vietnam's shipping service has many advantages and room for development.

How to calculate sea freight
Currently, there are two ways to calculate sea freight charges:

Charge by kg: Used with heavy goods, 1 ton < 1 CBM.

Calculation by volume (CBM): The calculation method is to take length x width x height, applicable to light goods.

For full container cargo (FCL)
Full container shipping charges are also calculated by weight or by volume depending on the type of cargo. Usually, freight will be calculated by multiplying the number of containers by the freight rate by the same goods.

For retail goods (LCL)
The way to calculate freight rates for retail goods when shipping by sea for domestic or international goods is based on the common fee. Particularly for domestic retail goods, the calculation of freight charges is based on one of the following methods:

Method 1: (FAK) The carrier aggregates all transported goods and then divides the shipping fee equally among the shippers.

Method 2: Based on the shipping item to calculate the shipping fee.

Note: The freight for full container or retail goods above does not include the surcharges that shippers must pay. Therefore, when quoting sea freight rates, it is necessary to add freight and surcharges together.
